It aims to equip osteopaths with the necessary tools to better understand, assess, and support these patients from a holistic and multidimensional perspective.

1. Abdominal Pain

The course begins with essential fundamentals: definitions, statistics, common symptoms, and contributing factors. Various potential causes and diagnoses are covered, as are the challenges associated with diagnosing and treating this often complex and multifactorial pain.

Special attention is paid to the biopsychosocial approach, which is essential for treating chronic pain.

2. Impact of Chronic Pain on the Nervous System

This section explores the role of pain and the functioning of the nervous system, highlighting the mechanisms of central and peripheral sensitization and the neurophysiological changes associated with chronic pain.

Participants will learn to recognize the signs of a sensitized nervous system and discover osteopathic tools aimed at regulating the autonomic nervous system and modulating pain.

3. The “Devil’s Trio”

Three commonly encountered clinical conditions are examined in detail:

Endometriosis

Painful Bladder Syndrome

Pudendal Neuralgia

The course illuminates their mechanisms, potential interactions, and functional impacts, as well as the specifics of their osteopathic treatment.

4. Osteopathic Support

This part focuses on clinical practice:

Importance of therapeutic education and patient empowerment

Common clinical observations in practice

Common errors in follow-up care

Importance of interprofessional collaboration

Developing an individualized treatment plan

The focus is on a gradual treatment that is gentle on the nervous system and adapted to each woman’s individual situation.

5. Clinical Cases and Practical Toolkit

Clinical cases will be used to integrate learning content and build a practical therapeutic toolkit, including:

ILU massage

Breathing techniques

Trigger point work (abdomen, pelvis, pelvic floor, lower limbs)

Etc.

Teaching specific osteopathic techniques

In addition to theoretical foundations, several specific osteopathic techniques will be demonstrated and practiced throughout the training. The goal is to enable participants to integrate concretely adapted approaches for abdomino-pelvic pain, considering tissue sensitivity, the state of the nervous system, and the clinical complexity of these patients. The techniques taught aim to support tissue mobility, neurovegetative regulation, reduction of sensitization, and improvement of overall function.

Course Objective

To provide osteopaths with an integrative, neurophysiologically informed, and patient-centered approach to improve the assessment, understanding, and treatment of abdominal and pelvic pain in women.

This course provides an in-depth and up-to-date understanding of abdominal and pelvic pain in women, integrating the latest scientific findings and the clinical osteopathic approach.
