Course content

The course looks at the osteopathic treatment of children both in theory and in practice. The focus is on different areas of osteopathy:

  1. Theory and principles of osteopathy
    • Evaluation of the concepts of osteopathy
    • Osteopathic principles in pediatrics
    • Sutherland’s model of tissue attraction
    • Studies on the osteopathic treatment of newborns
  2. Practical approaches and techniques
    • Treatment approaches for babies and children
    • Practical experience in the treatment of newborns and children
    • Diagnostics and possible causes of dysfunctions
  3. Specific anatomical and physiological considerations
    • Role of fascia, viscera and the respiratory system in treatment
    • Consideration of diaphragms, fulcra and the perceived sense
    • Somatosensory integration in treatment
  4. Child development and birth
    • Development of newborns
    • Asymmetrical positions in the uterus and their consequences
    • Birth: process, influences and consequences for later life
  5. Psychosocial aspects
    • Relationship between parents and child

Since 1984 private practice of osteopathy; since 2002 additional practice in the Clinique Saint Martin with newborns; Master’s degree (Human Sciences) at the University of Tours, France; since 1985 member of the French Register of Osteopaths (ROF); 1997 founder of the French Academy of Osteopathy; editor of the journal “Apostill”; since 2004: member of the Executive Committee of the “World Osteopathic Health Organization”; international lecturer and teacher in the USA, Canada, England, Spain, Italy, France and at the OSD. On the board of the European Society for Pediatric Osteopathy.
