Course content

This masterclass focuses on different osteopathic approaches for the treatment of psychosomatic and psychological complaints.
Osteopathic techniques are discussed and taught together.
Technically, the pelvis is considered first – the majority of psychologically stressed people have an unphysiological gait.
The connection between the psyche and the pelvis is analyzed in more detail.
We then move on to the spine as a treatment site.
The aim is to apply the principle of balancing the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems in practice.
Finally, the connection between cranial torsion (Yakovlevian torque), which is primarily caused by stress during childbirth, and psychological well-being will be examined in more detail.
Osteopathic treatment of psychosomatic and psychological complaints At the beginning of the history of osteopathy there was the Still-Hildreth Curatorium from 1914-1964, a project for the osteopathic treatment of patients with psychosomatic and psychological illness.
The patients were treated with osteopathic techniques.
The spine was the primary treatment region.
In 1929, the sanatorium published the statistics of all patients who had been treated during the first fifteen years.
The average duration of treatment was three to twelve months, with a recovery rate of 35.5% for schizophrenia, 66% for manic depression, 94% for psychosis and 77% for psychoneuroses.
Three years later, Hildreth reported that of the more than 2,000 cases treated up to that point, 55% had fully recovered.
He further stated that most types of mental illness would benefit from osteopathic treatment.
