Adrenal fatigue – the stress syndrome of the 21st century

In the last decade, the incidence of burnout syndrome has steadily increased, massively increasing the economic and healthcare system costs. The awareness and importance of burnout syndrome are therefore high, both in medicine and in society.

The situation is quite different with adrenal fatigue. This syndrome, first described by Dr. Wilson in the USA, describes the physical dysfunctions and limitations of affected patients. They complain of a broad range of symptoms, ranging from sleep disorders, concentration problems, hormonal imbalances, and reduced resilience. Although Dr. Wilson described this as the stress syndrome of the 21st century, adrenal fatigue is largely unknown both in medicine and in society. Osteopathic examination and treatment is also currently receiving little attention.

The lecture will provide a brief introduction to the adrenal fatigue syndrome and also provide a brief insight into osteopathic examination and treatment.
